Mohali, officially known as Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, is a planned city in Punjab, India. It is a commercial hub lying southwest of Chandigarh.
Mohali officially known as Sahibzada Ajeet Singh Nagar, was initially developed to serve as a industrial town south west to Chandigarh. In 1975 the industrial estate was planned to be developed as a fully planned city.
Being adjacent to Chandigarh the city seamlessly carry forwards the planned spirit of Chandigarh. Mohali as one of the most planned cities in Punjab, Mohali has evolved into a major Commercial and IT Hub, thanks to the proximity to International airport and multiple National Highways connected to it

Mohali carries forward the sectors from Chandigarh. Infact sectors up from 53 to 56 are shared (common road and infrastructure but different jurisdiction) between chandigarh and Mohali.
Old Mohali is divided into Phases from Phase1 to Phase 9. With Phase 3 (3B1, 3B2) as a major commercial centre.
Core sectors start from 53 (corresponding to phase1 and so on) to 111. New Addition to Sectors is GMADA (Greater Mohali Area Development Authority) Aerocity and now upcoming 5500 Acre integrated Aerotropolis Township adjacent to International Airport Mohali and Aerocity.
One of the prime areas in zirakpur as its already developed, on highway, major commercial retail hubs, Educational and healthcare facilities at walking distance. More-over the upcoming connectivity to Panchkula (PR-7) will surely drive the prices upwards.
To develop Mohali and surrounding areas, GMADA: Greater Mohali Area Development Authority as established in 2006. As a single window agency for infrastructure development planning, gives confidence as land is acquired by GMADA and then as per planning land is planned for development under different categories like Residential, Health, Educational, Hospitality and commercial, keeping investors safe from future legal and land related issues.
Singapore based consultant Jurong Consultant were appointed by GMADA for comprehensive Master plan and Blueprint for world class infrastructure and zoning in upcoming developments in Mohali keeping in mind balance between residential, commercial, Educational and health facilities.
